Tottenham Hotspur lead in England after beating lackluster City | Foreign football

Richard Powell, December 23, 2020

ResumeFor the first time in six years, Tottenham Hotspur are back in the lead again in England. Jose Mourinho’s club won with a big bang 2-0 against boring Manchester City. Tottenham came with 20 points from nine matches. Tottenham have two more points than Chelsea, who won 2-0 earlier on Saturday over Newcastle United and Leicester City, who play against champions Liverpool tomorrow.

Stephen Burgoyne was allowed to start in the Premier League for the second time this season. The former PSV player had to skip Orange’s previous international matches due to physical problems. He worked on his recovery in London and got a starting spot against City from Mourinho. In February, Burgoyne made his Tottenham debut with a nice goal against the Light Blue Brigade from Manchester.

Son Heung-min opened the scoring in the fifth minute with his ninth goal of the season. Substitute Giovanni Le Celso decided the match midway through the second half. Then a goal from both clubs was canceled. Harry Kane scored for Spears from an offside position and on the other hand, Emeric Laporte’s goal was canceled as the manager Gabriel Jesus was to receive a hand.

Substitute Giovanni Le Celso decided the match midway through the second half. The Argentine had only just entered when he scored 2-0 through a pass from Harry Kane. For Kane, that really meant his ninth pass this season. Burgoyne, who was replaced shortly thereafter, gave way to Lo Celso with an easy running move.
