Pushups are a popular exercise for anyone who has been looking to build muscle since ages. Especially if there is no gym or assistive devices nearby. What you probably don’t know is that this popular exercise also says something about your health. Researchers have found that the amount of push-ups a man can do is linked to heart problems.

Scientists from Harvard University have concluded that when you are fit, you are less likely to develop various heart diseases. That comes as no surprise, of course, but they’ve now been able to link it to compression processes. The study showed that men who could perform the exercise 40 times in a row had a lower risk of heart disease.

In this way, you reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease

That’s what scientists discovered during this study, which closely monitored 1,104 firefighters from ten different fire stations in the US state of Indiana. Over the past 10 years, a doctor has asked firefighters to do 80 push-ups. This included a number of conditions.

To test it out for yourself, you have to complete it in one sitting in a row. At the same time, the accelerator operates at a speed of 80 beats per minute. If you miss three or more tricks, or if you can’t keep up, the duty will stop. Can you complete 80 push-ups at your desired speed? Congratulations, you are totally the boss.

40 push-ups as a measure of your health

The doctor also subjected the firefighters who participated in the study to a thorough physical examination. When processing data, note something special. In the 10 years that the study was conducted, it was found that men who were able to do more than 40 push-ups showed significantly fewer signs of heart problems.

Firefighters who can do 40 push-ups in a row have a 96% lower risk of cardiovascular disease than men who can do fewer than ten. Of course, it’s not just about push-ups, it’s about your physical health in general. Payouts are just a good metric.

It’s time to move

So if you can’t do 10 pushups in a row, it might be time to train harder. Move and go to 40. It’s not easy, but then you reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease. To learn more about push-ups and other exercises for tonal chest muscles, click here.
