Aeroflot Expected to Receive First Production Aircraft
United Aircraft Corporation is currently preparing an initial batch of 18 MC-21-310 aircraft at its manufacturing facility in Irkutsk. Once certification is completed, these aircraft are expected to be delivered primarily to Aeroflot under previously announced agreements.
The aircraft forms part of Russia’s long-term strategy to modernize its domestic airline fleet while reducing dependence on imported commercial aircraft.
The MC-21 program has accumulated 384 firm orders. Aeroflot accounts for the largest share with commitments for 198 aircraft. Rossiya has ordered 61 aircraft, while Red Wings Airlines plans to receive 16 units and IrAero has committed to 10 aircraft. Another 99 aircraft have been allocated to undisclosed customers.
