Abdi Nagy will be the only Dutch participant in the World Marathon Championships in Oregon, USA this summer. This was reported by the Dutch Athletics Federation. Nagy won the silver medal at the Tokyo Olympics last year behind Kenyan Eliud Kipchoge.

The marathon will be held on Sunday 17 July at a distance of 14 kilometers. The World Athletics Championships will be held in Oregon from July 15-24.

Three weeks after the World Championships in Athletics, the European Championships in Athletics will be held in Munich (15-21 August). On the first day of the event, seven Dutchmen take part in the European Marathon Championships. The men are Bjorn Kormann, Tom Hendrix, Ronald Schroer, and the women are Nink Brinkmann, Jill Holtermann, Ruth van der Meijden and Bo Umils.

Khaled Shokod was also on the IAAF list. “Mentioning my name on the list is a misunderstanding,” Skoud says on Instagram. “I have chosen not to participate in the European Championships and the World Championships and focus on other marathons.”
