Judoka San Verhagen ends his career: “I turned my life upside down for games” | other sports

Judoka Sanne Verhagen immediately ended her career. The 29-year-old Verhagen has twice represented the Netherlands at the Olympic Games.

I have decided to stop sports and focus on my social career. I am grateful for the beautiful moments and experiences best sports have given me. “Judo is and always will be a part of my life,” said Verhagen, who competed in the 57 kilogram category.

Last summer, Verhagen lost at the Tokyo Olympics in the second round to Nora Jiakova of Kosovo. After that, she already expressed doubts about continuing her career. ,, I’m going on vacation now, then I’ll think and then I’ll see where the ship ends. It turned my life upside down in gaming. Every athlete focuses on one thing and has to deal with the highs and lows. In Japan, she said, I think you learn and get a lot, for me it was totally worth it.”

Eight years ago, Verhagen won the bronze medal at the World Cup in Chelyabinsk, Russia. There have been no major successes in recent years.
