JetBlue Airways is expanding its footprint in Upstate New York with plans to launch a long-awaited nonstop route between Rochester and Orlando, marking the carrier’s return to the corridor for the first time in 15 years. The New York–based airline announced it will begin year-round service on March 26, 2026, reinforcing its strategy to increase access for smaller markets while strengthening its position as New York’s Hometown Airline®.
The new service will connect Greater Rochester International Airport (ROC) with Orlando International Airport (MCO), one of the most in-demand leisure destinations for travelers across the Northeast. The move underscores JetBlue’s continued investment in Upstate communities, which it has served since 2000. With the addition of this route, the carrier now links Orlando with eight airports across the Empire State—more than any other airline.
In announcing the new flights, JetBlue emphasized growing demand for direct, affordable travel options between Western New York and Florida’s tourism hubs. According to Dave Jehn, JetBlue’s Vice President of Network Planning and Airline Partnerships, the decision was driven by robust customer interest. “Orlando remains one of the top leisure destinations for Upstate travelers, and this new connection brings our award-winning service to even more customers,” Jehn stated.
The service will operate five days a week—Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays—using JetBlue’s Airbus A320 aircraft. To mark the launch, the airline is offering introductory one-way fares starting at $49, available exclusively on its official website.
The news gives Rochester travelers a new nonstop option to reach Central Florida’s theme parks, resorts, and family attractions at a time when demand for leisure travel remains strong. But the benefits, local leaders say, extend well beyond tourism. The new connection is expected to support economic activity throughout the Rochester–Finger Lakes region by improving access for both leisure and business travelers.
U.S. Senator Charles Schumer welcomed JetBlue’s decision, noting that expanded air service strengthens regional ties to major domestic markets. He highlighted that improved connectivity between Rochester and Orlando will support local businesses, enhance tourism flows, and provide residents with more travel flexibility. Added service, he said, is a competitive advantage as Upstate communities look to attract visitors, new businesses, and future economic opportunities.
For JetBlue, the route reflects a broader strategy to make travel more accessible for mid-sized and smaller markets often underserved by major carriers. The airline continues to position itself as a provider of reliable, customer-friendly service outside the country’s largest metropolitan centers. The ROC–MCO launch, the company said, aligns with its mission to expand affordable travel options for families and leisure travelers seeking direct service to high-demand destinations.
In addition to competitive pricing, JetBlue is emphasizing its signature onboard amenities as part of the offering. Passengers can expect complimentary high-speed Fly-Fi® internet, free snacks and beverages, and seatback entertainment with live television at every seat—features that have helped distinguish the carrier in national customer satisfaction surveys.
The flight schedule is designed to appeal to both vacationing families and weekend travelers. Northbound Flight 1042 will depart Orlando at 11:50 a.m. and arrive in Rochester at 2:37 p.m. Southbound Flight 1043 will leave Rochester at 3:35 p.m. and land in Orlando at 6:25 p.m., creating convenient connections for travelers heading directly to Florida resorts or returning home in time for the evening.
Airport officials and local industry groups expect the route to attract strong interest once fares become available. Florida remains one of the top travel destinations for Upstate New Yorkers, and nonstop service eliminates the need for connections through major hubs—reducing travel time and improving reliability for families, retirees, and business travelers alike.
The reintroduction of the Rochester–Orlando route further cements JetBlue’s long-term commitment to the region. After more than two decades of serving Upstate New York, the airline continues to expand its role in connecting residents to key domestic markets, while positioning itself for sustained growth across the Northeast.
Travelers can book tickets, review schedules, and access promotional fares directly on JetBlue’s official website.
