Social Media Video Shows Passenger Practicing Yoga at 35,000 Feet in Crowded Cabin

MADRID — An onboard yoga demonstration by a social media influencer aboard an Iberia Express flight has triggered widespread discussion about passenger conduct and aviation safety after footage showed the individual performing balance-based poses in the aisle of a commercial aircraft during flight.

The incident took place on an Iberia Express Airbus A320-family aircraft operating a domestic route within Spain. According to videos later shared online, the influencer, known on social media as “rosa.adventures,” used the narrow aisle of the aircraft’s economy cabin to perform a series of yoga movements while the aircraft was cruising at approximately 35,000 feet.

The footage quickly spread across Instagram and TikTok, drawing both admiration for the influencer’s physical abilities and criticism from travelers and aviation observers who questioned the appropriateness of the activity in a confined airline cabin.

Inflight Yoga Display Draws Attention Online

Video Shows Handstands and Balance Poses in Aircraft Aisle

In videos posted to social media, the influencer can be seen performing handstands, one-legged balancing poses, and stretching exercises in the center aisle of the aircraft. She presented the activity as a demonstration of maintaining fitness and body control while traveling.

The aircraft cabin appeared fully occupied, with passengers seated throughout the economy section. Observers noted that the narrow aisle offered limited space for movement, making the yoga session highly visible to fellow travelers seated nearby.

The Airbus A320-family aircraft used by Iberia Express features a single-aisle cabin layout commonly found on short- and medium-haul routes. The design prioritizes passenger seating capacity and operational efficiency, leaving little room for non-essential activities in the aisle.

Several passengers reportedly viewed the display as disruptive due to the restricted cabin environment and the limited personal space available in economy-class seating.

    Aviation Experts Highlight Safety Risks

Aircraft Aisles Intended for Passenger Movement and Emergency Access

The incident has renewed attention on airline safety protocols that require aircraft aisles to remain unobstructed throughout a flight.

Aviation safety specialists have long emphasized that aisles serve critical operational functions, including passenger movement, cabin crew access, and emergency evacuation routes. Any activity that blocks or occupies the aisle can create additional risks, particularly if unexpected turbulence occurs.

On narrow-body aircraft such as the Airbus A320, available space is especially limited. Sudden aircraft movement, even when conditions appear calm, can cause passengers to lose balance and potentially collide with nearby travelers, crew members, or cabin equipment.

Observers also pointed out that passengers were seated immediately adjacent to the yoga activity. In one portion of the footage, a lap infant was reportedly positioned near the area where the influencer was performing poses, adding to concerns about potential injury should the aircraft encounter turbulence.

Airlines generally require passengers to remain seated with their seatbelts fastened except when necessary to access lavatories or move briefly within the cabin. Cabin crew members are authorized to intervene when passenger behavior affects safety procedures, cabin operations, or the comfort of other travelers.

    Social Media Reactions Divided

Online Users Debate Passenger Etiquette and Personal Freedom

Following its publication online, the video generated significant engagement across social media platforms.

Some users praised the influencer’s flexibility, balance, and commitment to fitness while traveling. Others, however, criticized the decision to perform yoga in a commercial aircraft cabin, arguing that the activity placed unnecessary demands on shared cabin space and could have posed safety risks to surrounding passengers.

The debate highlights a growing trend in which social media content creators seek unique locations and experiences for online engagement, sometimes testing the boundaries of accepted public behavior.

Aviation professionals continue to stress that commercial aircraft cabins are not designed for exercise routines or athletic demonstrations. Even under normal operating conditions, factors such as turbulence, aircraft motion, and restricted space can create unpredictable hazards.

While no injuries were reported from the incident, the footage has reignited discussions about passenger responsibility, inflight etiquette, and the importance of following airline safety guidelines while traveling aboard commercial flights.
