Indian space agency ISRO has successfully completed the first of a series of test flights in preparation for a human spaceflight. India ultimately wants to realize two major space dreams.

An unmanned rocket lifted off from the launch site in Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh, on Saturday, to test the operation of the astronaut rescue system in case of an emergency. According to ISRO Chairman Sridhara Somanath, the test went well.

The flight was actually supposed to take place early, but was postponed at the last minute to make some improvements. This will be followed by more tests of the space mission dubbed “Gaganyaan”.

India hopes to launch three astronauts into space at an altitude of 400 kilometers at the end of 2024 or in 2025 and then return them safely to Earth.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently said that he would like to see his country send a person to the moon before 2040. Another desire is to establish an Indian space station in 2035. India’s Chandrayaan-3 probe landed on the moon’s surface at the end of August.
