Freek Vonk goes on a journey with mixed feelings to record his Zapp show Frix Wildfire. He says it today on Instagram. At the moment, there are still negative travel advice and it is not recommended to travel as much as possible. On the other hand, we also want to create episodes so that we can return to TV in mid-December, as always, ‘he explains his feelings.

The TV biologist was last in Schiphol with his bags six months ago. It takes a lot to get used to, because Vonk typically travels at least seven months a year for TV recordings and research. However, the coronavirus crisis has thrown a wrench into the business, and although the team was constantly looking for opportunities, many flights were canceled because the risk was too great.

Today, Vonk announced that he can finally get back on the road again for his show. “In the coming weeks, we’ll be looking for great tiger sharks, manta rays, sea turtles and more – in the Maldives, a beautiful archipelago in the Indian Ocean.”

Although Vonk looked forward to it, he boarded the plane with mixed feelings. At the moment, there are still negative travel advice and it is not recommended to travel as much as possible. On the other hand, we also want to create loops from Frix Wildfire, So we can return to TV in mid-December, as always. However, it must, can, and may not do so except in a very responsible manner. When we are there, as always, we are in a so-called bubble with our squad.

Therefore the biologist asserts that they “adhere to the RIVM protocol at all times”. “We use private vehicles (cars / boats and in some cases airplanes) as much as possible, and they are tested extensively before, during and after the flight, reducing the number of people involved in the rotation,” Funk explains.

Funk says he will work hard to make beautiful episodes, but he can also imagine his followers not waiting for envious shots and videos of his journey. This is why he asks them what they are doing: Will they post or not about his adventure? His supporters firmly reply: “Do it, take us on a virtual journey!”
