French postal company La Poste has begun experimenting with a post office fitting room. This way, customers can try on the clothes they ordered online and return them quickly if necessary. The first fitting room was installed in one of our branches in Paris.
The French postal service saw many people receiving parcels, only to return shortly afterwards to the post office to return their orders. For example, because the pants didn't fit or the jacket was too big.
Thanks to the Post Office fitting room, people don't have to go home first to try on a new piece of clothing. “We especially want to make life easier for our customers,” La Poste says of the experience. “It saves time and effort,” the company spokesperson continues.
The fitting room must also ensure that the post office receives more people through its doors. La Poste, like other postal companies, sends fewer and fewer letters. The company hopes that it can compensate for this through the parcel services it provides.
French business association CdCF is not happy with this initiative. La Poste's fitting rooms will make online shopping more attractive.
The trade association fears this will make French shopping streets quieter. Especially if La Poste eventually rolls out the experiment nationally. It is not yet known whether this will happen.
