Double Sail Lambrex / Van Vogt falls off the podium at European Championships | Other sports

Dutch double-sail Bart Lambrex / Pim van Vogt had to finish sixth in the final classification in the European Championship in the Olympic 49er class over Austria’s Attersee. The Olympic pair started first in the standings on the last day. However, in the last four races, the first places failed to appear: 8-16-15-15.

The European surname went to the German couple Tim Fischer / Fabian Graf.

Lambriex and Van Vugt officially confirmed themselves in the European Championships for the Olympic nomination for the Tokyo Summer Games 2021. Thus, disappointment over the loss of the European Championship medal dominated the two.

“We just want to compete to win. That is our goal. We want to win the series. And yes, today we can win, but we didn’t do that. We will work on that,” Van Vogt said.

In the women’s category, two-time world champion Anime Pickering and Annette Deutz finished fourth in the final ranking of 49erFX. German duo Tina Lutz / Suzanne Buicki won the gold medal at the European Championships. Pickering and Deutz were already sure of an Olympic participation.
