Delta Air Lines is strengthening its transatlantic network out of Boston Logan International Airport, adding two new nonstop routes for summer 2025. Beginning May 16, the airline will launch daily service to Madrid, followed by three-times-weekly flights to Nice starting May 17.
The expansion underscores Delta’s push to cement its role as Boston’s leading international carrier, while giving travelers new options to explore Europe’s cultural and leisure destinations.
“Delta is proud to lead as Boston’s top airline, linking the city to global destinations,” said Paul Baldoni, Senior Vice President of Network Planning. “Our new Madrid and Nice routes strengthen our European network while delivering a seamless, high-quality travel experience.”
Expanding Options for Boston Travelers
The new Madrid service will provide daily nonstop access to Spain’s capital, known for its historic boulevards, grand architecture, and vibrant arts scene. Nice, situated on the French Riviera, will be served three times per week—on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays—offering passengers direct access to Mediterranean beaches, old-world charm, and luxury dining.
The two routes will be operated using Airbus A330-900neo aircraft, featuring four cabin classes, including Delta One® with lie-flat seats, chef-curated menus, and Missoni-designed amenity kits. All passengers will have access to free Wi-Fi for SkyMiles members, Delta Studio in-flight entertainment, and upgraded dining options.
In addition to these launches, Delta is also enhancing its seasonal European schedule out of Boston. Daily service to Barcelona will resume earlier than last year on May 7, while four-times-weekly flights to Milan will start May 16. Together with the new Madrid and Nice flights, Delta will serve 12 European destinations nonstop from Boston this summer, more than any other U.S. carrier.
Boston as a Global Hub
The airline’s expanded schedule reflects Boston Logan’s increasing importance within Delta’s global network. Over the past two decades, Delta has grown its Boston footprint from 25 destinations to nearly 70 worldwide. With its joint venture and codeshare partners, Delta now connects the city to four continents, operating about 20 international flights per day.
That growth has been supported by significant investment in passenger amenities at Logan. Delta recently unveiled a 6,700-square-foot Delta One Lounge, offering fine dining, personalized service, and design features inspired by Boston’s maritime history. Its expanded Delta Sky Club, now nearly 21,000 square feet, includes soundproof work pods, shower suites, and diverse dining options. The lounge was recognized by USA Today as one of the top 10 airport lounges in the country.
“We’re excited about Delta’s growth at Boston Logan, including new routes to Spain and France,” said Massport CEO Rich Davey. “Nice marks our 60th international destination, giving passengers more choices for business or leisure travel. With over 130 destinations and a focus on customer experience, Logan is elevating the travel journey.”
Commitment to Boston and Beyond
Delta’s presence in Boston extends well beyond flights. The airline employs more than 2,000 people across Massachusetts and maintains a strong philanthropic footprint through The Delta Air Lines Foundation. In recent years, Delta has invested in community programs supporting education, sustainability, and food security, including a $1 million grant to the Greater Boston Food Bank.
The combination of new routes, upgraded airport facilities, and ongoing community investment reflects Delta’s strategy to compete aggressively in Boston, where it faces growing competition from JetBlue and American Airlines in both domestic and transatlantic markets.
For Boston travelers, the result is an expanding menu of nonstop options to Europe and beyond. As the summer season approaches, the addition of Madrid and Nice further positions Logan as a key gateway for U.S.–Europe travel and reinforces Delta’s status as a global carrier committed to connecting Boston with the world.
