An American couple in Wisconsin had to rub their eyes when they saw a very special guest entering their garden via a surveillance camera. It was a pig weighing more than 200 kilograms that went for a walk in the neighborhood. The four-legged friend, named after actor Kevin Bacon, has suddenly appeared at the home of unsuspecting locals.
“My wife saw an unusual-looking figure on camera walking past our garage in our driveway,” Jake Molgaard told the Associated Press news agency. “He headed straight to our back door.”
What to do when there is an unexpected visit from such an animal? “My wife started feeding him right away. She does that with every animal that ends up in our backyard,” said Molgaard. “Apples, carrots, rice cakes, tomatoes, everything went in.”
The Molgaard family lives about 40 miles south of Milwaukee, in an area with many farms. Kevin's owner was quickly found through a farmer friend. He was not home, but said he would be grateful if the Mulgaards would “lure” the pig back into its pen. He added that Kevin loves cookies, marshmallows and other sweets. So they took Oreo cookies and anything else they could find in the refrigerator.
The animal was then returned at the direction of the local sheriff, a journey about a mile long that ultimately took about 2.5 hours. The Molgaard family immediately fell in love with the heavy, four-legged friend. “Everyone immediately wanted to adopt him,” Molgaard told a local news site. “But I said, ‘We don’t have room for a 500-pound pig.’”
The Wisconsin pig is not the first to get the actor's name and go for a walk. Another Kevin Bacon previously caused quite a stir. This animal escaped and wandered around Pennsylvania for weeks, even catching the attention of the real Kevin Bacon.
