Botic van de Zandschulp is scheduled to take part in the Winston-Salem ATP Championship next week. The world number 24 is third in the final preparations for the US Open.
After losing to Daniil Medvedev, 26-year-old Van de Zandschulp indicated on Tuesday that he had doubts about his participation in Winston-Salem. The best tennis player in the Netherlands, he wasn’t completely satisfied with his form in recent weeks, until he considered coming home. Flying directly to New York, where the US Open begins in a week and a half, was also an option.
‘But we still want to play some games before the US Open,’ said coach Peter Lucasin, who was not in Cincinnati this week. Van de Zandschulp will be assisting again in the coming weeks.
So far, Pablo Carreno Busta of Spain has been placed first at Winston-Salem, and Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov – who received a wildcard – is number 2 on the standings list.
Botic van de Zandschulp was still very negative about his form on Tuesday
