Apple is bidding for the broadcast rights to the Dutch Eredivisie. This was reported by well-informed sports marketer Chris Werts. Other US giants Amazon and Netflix are also interested in the rights to the Dutch football competition.
Apple wants the broadcast rights to the Eredivisie
Tech giants are increasingly throwing themselves into sports rights — including Apple. The Cupertino-based company has already signed a ten-year contract with Major League Soccer this year: US Soccer Competition. Starting in 2023, all MLS soccer matches will be available exclusively on the Apple TV app.

“Ziggo has announced that they want to take over the ESPN role,” Woerts reports orange winter. “In addition to all European matches, they also want to broadcast all Eredivisie matches in 2025, including summaries.” According to the sports marketer, ESPN has shown that 1.2 million people are willing to sign up for Eredivisie football. Starting in 2023, Apple will at least be allowed to stream MLS duels live. To watch all matches, you’ll need a subscription to a new MLS streaming service, which is only available through the Apple TV app. This costs $14.99 a month, or $99 for one season.
