    Carrier strengthens Miami hub strategy as it adds nonstop flights to Maracaibo and Cap-Haïtien

    American Airlines will become the first U.S. carrier to serve 100 destinations across Mexico, the Caribbean, and Latin America after launching new routes from Miami International Airport to Maracaibo, Venezuela, and Cap-Haïtien, Haiti, further expanding its regional network and reinforcing Miami’s role as the airline’s primary international gateway.

    The Fort Worth-based airline said it will begin daily service between Miami International Airport and La Chinita International Airport in Maracaibo on July 14, followed by daily flights to Cap-Haïtien International Airport beginning Nov. 1.

    The additions will mark the 99th and 100th destinations in American Airlines’ network across Mexico, the Caribbean, and Latin America, a milestone that comes as the carrier approaches its centennial year in 2026.

    Miami Hub Anchors Regional Growth Strategy

    American Airlines continues to strengthen its position as the largest U.S. airline serving Latin America and the Caribbean, with Miami functioning as the centerpiece of its international strategy in the region.

    “American connects the US with Mexico, the Caribbean, and Latin America better than any other airline,” said Nat Pieper, Chief Commercial Officer at American Airlines. “We are committed to serving the needs of travelers by offering the most flights to the most destinations in the region of any US carrier.”

    The airline said its winter network across Mexico, the Caribbean, and Latin America will be nearly 50% larger than its closest U.S. competitor following the addition of the two new destinations.

    American Airlines also maintains nonstop service to several destinations not currently served by any other U.S. airline, including Anguilla, Bimini, Ocho Rios, South Caicos, and Montevideo.

    The expansion reflects broader efforts by the carrier to strengthen connectivity between the United States and major leisure, business, and diaspora markets across the region.

    New Venezuela Service Expands Presence in South America

    The launch of Miami-Maracaibo service represents a further step in American Airlines’ renewed expansion into Venezuela.

    The airline recently resumed flights between Miami and Caracas, becoming the first carrier to restart service between the United States and Venezuela after years of limited connectivity. American Airlines currently operates twice-daily flights on the Miami-Caracas route.

    With the addition of Maracaibo, the carrier said it will offer more service to Venezuela than any other U.S. airline.

    Daily Flights Target Business and Family Travel

    Flights between Miami and Maracaibo will operate daily using Embraer 175 aircraft equipped with premium cabin seating and complimentary high-speed Wi-Fi sponsored by AT&T.

    The airline expects the route to support both corporate travel demand and family connections between the U.S. and Venezuela, particularly among travelers with personal and business ties to the country.

    American Airlines will also become the only U.S. carrier operating nonstop service to Maracaibo.

    Haiti Flights Return After Service Gap

    American Airlines will also resume scheduled passenger service to Haiti with the launch of daily flights between Miami and Cap-Haïtien beginning Nov. 1.

    The carrier said it will become the first U.S. airline to announce the return of scheduled passenger operations to Haiti following a prolonged disruption in service.

    Flights on the route will be operated using Boeing 737 aircraft featuring premium cabin seating and complimentary high-speed Wi-Fi sponsored by AT&T.

    Strong Demand Expected From Haitian-American Communities

    The airline noted that Haiti remains the largest Caribbean market by passenger demand currently lacking service from a U.S. airline.

    The new route is expected to reconnect travelers between the two countries while serving the large Haitian-American population concentrated in South Florida.

    Passengers traveling from New York, Orlando, and other U.S. cities will also gain access to one-stop connections through Miami, which remains one of the most important gateways for Caribbean travel.

    American Airlines Expands Operations at Miami International Airport

    American Airlines currently operates more than 410 peak daily departures from Miami International Airport, underscoring the airport’s importance within the carrier’s broader network strategy.

    For the upcoming winter season, the airline plans to increase flight frequencies across multiple destinations in the region as demand for international leisure and visiting-friends-and-relatives travel continues to grow.

    Infrastructure Investments Planned at Miami Hub

    Alongside network expansion, American Airlines said it plans to further enhance its premium passenger experience at Miami International Airport through new infrastructure investments.

    The carrier confirmed plans for a new Flagship Lounge and a redesigned Concourse D as part of its long-term growth strategy at the airport.

    The upgrades are intended to improve passenger experience while supporting future operational growth at what remains American Airlines’ largest international hub.
