AMD has released a graphics driver exclusively for Windows 7, which is specifically intended to fix problems with the AMD Radeon RX 6900 XT (test) and other “graphics products” from the manufacturer. Enhanced Sync and logging of performance metrics from RDNA and RDNA 2 GPUs continues to cause problems.
Graphics driver for Windows 7 and RDNA 2
While the AMD graphics driver for Windows 10 and Windows 11 is still available at version 22.5.2, Windows 7 is already getting an updated version added, especially in terms of hardware compatibility. In the past, it was not possible to install RDNA 2 graphics cards like the Radeon RX 6900 XT at all. AMD Adrenalin 22.6.1 WHQL now provides treatment.
Windows 7 has not received support from Microsoft since January 14, 2020, but customers of the Extended Security Updates (ESU) variant will not meet the same fate until January 10, 2023.
In addition to the regular AMD Adrenalin 22.6.1 WQHL, which can also be found in the ComputerBase download area, AMD is also releasing a modified version of the entry-level graphics cards AMD Radeon RX 6400 and AMD Radeon RX 6500 (tested) based on the smaller RDNA 2 GPU Navi 24.
Discrete graphics driver for Navi 24
Unlike the normal driver for Windows 7, the new Navi-24 graphics driver is not supported by WHQL and is available for download separately:
