US presidential candidate Joe Biden declared President Donald Trump “unfit” for the position, providing an emotional response to a report that Mr. Trump mocked the American war dead.

    the main points:

    • Emotional Biden called the alleged comments “unfortunate.”
    • Mr Trump said it was not necessary to make an apology, because it was a “fake story.”
    • He claimed that Mr. Trump made the remarks in November 2018

The president and his allies rejected the report, which was published in The Atlantic, as a hoax.

The allegations, obtained from an anonymous source, describe multiple offensive comments the president allegedly made towards fallen and captured American service members, including referring to WWI deaths in a US military cemetery in France as “losers” and “suckers” In 2018.

The Associated Press said it independently confirmed many of the comments.

Biden told reporters that if Trump’s comments were correct, it was “unfortunate.”

Biden added: “I have never felt disappointed at all, throughout my career, with a leader I worked with, president or otherwise.”

“If the article is true – and it looks like it is, based on other things he said – that’s totally horrible. It’s a disgrace.”

He added, “The president must humbly apologize to every gold-starred mother and father, and to every family of the Blue Star family who tarnishes their reputation .. Who the heck thinks he is?”

Trump said it was not necessary to make an apology, because it was a “fake story.”

“I will be willing to swear by anything I haven’t said about our fallen heroes,” he told reporters.

“There is no one who respects them the most … which animal would say such a thing?

He said, “It was a terrible thing for someone to be able to say this kind of thing – especially to me because I have done more to the military than almost anyone else.”

The statements were allegedly made by Mr. Trump in November 2018, when he was scheduled to visit the Aisne Marne American Cemetery during a trip to France.

The White House said the visit was canceled because the foggy weather made the helicopter flight from Paris too risky and deemed a 90-minute drive to be futile.

Biden became furious when he directed his criticism of Mr. Trump, speaking of his late son Bo’s service in the Delaware Army National Guard.

Biden said, “When my son was an assistant attorney general of the United States, and volunteered to go to Kosovo when the war was going on, as a civilian, he was not” vulgar. “

“When my son volunteered to join the United States Army as Attorney General, he went to Iraq for a year, won a Bronze Star and other praises, and it was not” vulgar. “

Beau Biden died of cancer in 2015.

Biden framed the election from the start as a referendum on Trump’s personality.

Military families were widely supportive of Trump in the 2016 election, and a Pew Research Center survey of veterans in June 2019 found that veterans were more supportive of Trump than the general public.
