Gulfstream Aerospace Corp. has added another milestone to its long-range jet portfolio, announcing that the new Gulfstream G800 has achieved its eighth city-pair speed record with a flight from Phuket, Thailand, to Dubai. The aircraft completed the 2,962-nautical-mile mission in 5 hours and 38 minutes, underscoring the model’s early performance capabilities following its entry into service in August.
With this latest benchmark, Gulfstream now holds more than 760 city-pair speed records across its fleet, reinforcing its emphasis on long-range efficiency and high-speed operations for international customers.
Expanding Record of Long-Range Missions
The Phuket–Dubai achievement is the latest in a growing list of G800 performance records. The aircraft’s seven earlier missions include Miami to Riyadh in 12 hours and 33 minutes and Florence to Savannah, Georgia, in 9 hours and 33 minutes. Gulfstream reports rising demand since certification, with strong customer interest across multiple global regions as the company prepares for the Dubai Airshow.
Mark Burns, president of Gulfstream, said the momentum reflects the aircraft’s capabilities. “Setting eight speed records soon after entering service confirms the aircraft’s exceptional performance,” Burns said. He added that “The Middle East remains a strong region for Gulfstream” and emphasized the company’s plans to engage both current and prospective customers at the event.
Aircraft Specifications and Cabin Experience
The G800 is the longest-range aircraft Gulfstream has ever produced, capable of flying 8,200 nautical miles at Mach 0.85 or 7,000 nautical miles at Mach 0.90. Designed for extended missions, the aircraft offers a 2,840-foot cabin altitude at 41,000 feet, a plasma ionization air purification system, and 100 percent fresh air delivery.
Its cabin features 16 Gulfstream Panoramic Oval Windows, maximizing natural light across configurations that provide up to four living areas or three living areas plus a dedicated crew compartment.
G700 Also Demonstrates Strong Global Performance
Showcased alongside the G800 at the Dubai Airshow, the Gulfstream G700 has surpassed 90 city-pair speed records of its own. High-profile missions include Dubai to Sydney in 12 hours and 50 minutes, Jakarta to Lagos in 12 hours and 41 minutes, Abu Dhabi to London in 7 hours and 48 minutes, and Dubai to Hong Kong in 6 hours and 30 minutes.
These flights highlight the G700’s versatile international operating profile. The aircraft reaches a maximum operating speed of Mach 0.935 and cruises at Mach 0.90. Its cabin includes 20 Gulfstream Panoramic Oval Windows and advanced air-quality systems designed to enhance the passenger experience on long-haul routes.
Engine Platform and Aerodynamic Design
Both the G700 and G800 are powered by Rolls-Royce Pearl 700 engines paired with a Gulfstream-designed aerodynamic wing and high-speed winglets. This integration supports efficient climbs, fuel savings, and long-range capability across global operations. Gulfstream positions these design elements as part of its continuing investment in high-performance, long-range aircraft engineered for reliability and efficiency.
Gulfstream Positions for Global Growth
As the Dubai Airshow approaches, Gulfstream is using the platform to showcase its newest ultra-long-range jets and to reinforce its leadership in the business aviation segment. With expanding record-setting performance from both the G700 and G800, the company is strengthening its position in an increasingly competitive market centered on speed, comfort, and intercontinental reach.
