NEW DELHI – Embraer, the Brazilian aerospace giant, has officially opened a new corporate office in India as part of its broader strategy to tap into what it calls the world’s fastest-growing aviation market. Located at WorldMark 4 in Aerocity, New Delhi, the new office will serve as the company’s central hub for regional operations, supply chain management, engineering, and customer support.
The inauguration ceremony drew top officials from both Brazil and India, underscoring the growing importance of defense and aviation cooperation between the two nations. Among those attending were Brazil’s Vice President Geraldo Alckmin, Brazil’s Minister of Defense José Mucio, and India’s Minister of Civil Aviation Shri Kinjarapu Rammohan Naidu.
A Strategic Expansion in Asia’s Key Market
The establishment of the Indian office marks a major milestone for Embraer’s long-term strategy to expand its presence across commercial aviation, defense, business aviation, and urban air mobility segments. The company says the new regional headquarters will enable faster decision-making and improved customer responsiveness in one of its most promising markets.
By bolstering its physical presence, Embraer aims to deepen collaboration with Indian aerospace manufacturers and align its operations with key national initiatives such as “Make in India” and “Atmanirbhar Bharat.” These government-led programs are designed to enhance indigenous manufacturing and technology development across strategic industries, including aviation and defense.
Francisco Gomes Neto, President and CEO of Embraer, emphasized that India represents a vital pillar of the company’s global growth strategy. “India is a strategic market for the company,” Gomes Neto said. He added that the new office “will strengthen collaboration with customers, suppliers, and partners, while enabling Embraer to deliver world-class solutions tailored to India’s evolving aerospace needs.”
Two Decades of Engagement and Partnership
Embraer’s presence in India dates back nearly twenty years, beginning with the introduction of its first E-Jet in 2005. Since then, the company has played an integral role in enhancing regional air connectivity, defense capability, and business aviation services throughout the country.
Today, more than 50 Embraer aircraft operate in India across commercial, government, and defense missions. In the defense segment, the company’s ERJ145 platform underpins the Indian Air Force’s “Netra” Airborne Early Warning and Control (AEW&C) aircraft. The Legacy 600 has also become a preferred choice for government and VIP transport missions.
Embraer’s C-390 Millennium is currently being positioned as a top contender for India’s upcoming Medium Transport Aircraft (MTA) program, a move that underscores the company’s intent to strengthen its foothold in India’s defense modernization efforts.
Strengthening India’s Connectivity Goals
In the commercial sector, Embraer’s influence is equally visible. Star Air, a regional airline headquartered in Bengaluru, operates a fleet exclusively composed of Embraer E175 and ERJ145 aircraft. The carrier has become a cornerstone in connecting tier-two and tier-three cities across India, supporting the government’s UDAN (Ude Desh ka Aam Naagrik) scheme to make air travel affordable and accessible across smaller regions.
The company’s growing presence aligns with India’s ambition of becoming a global aviation hub, a goal driven by surging passenger demand, rapid airport development, and government-backed infrastructure initiatives.
Deepening Brazil–India Aerospace Ties
Beyond commercial ambitions, the opening of Embraer’s new office also symbolizes a broader strengthening of bilateral ties between Brazil and India. Both nations have shown mutual interest in advancing aerospace collaboration and technological innovation.
The partnership holds strategic significance for Embraer as it seeks not only to expand its manufacturing and engineering footprint but also to integrate more closely with India’s growing aerospace ecosystem. By enhancing cooperation in areas such as supply chain development, maintenance support, and joint R&D, the company aims to create a more resilient and responsive operational base in South Asia.
A New Chapter in Embraer’s Global Strategy
Industry observers view the new Delhi office as more than just an administrative move—it marks a deepening of Embraer’s long-term commitment to India’s aviation future. By uniting defense innovation, regional air connectivity, and urban air mobility under one umbrella, the company is positioning itself as a vital player in India’s evolving aerospace landscape.
“By expanding its footprint in India, Embraer aims to deepen partnerships with Indian aerospace manufacturers and contribute to national initiatives such as ‘Make in India’ and ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’,” the company said in a statement.
As the global aviation industry continues to recover from the pandemic and adapt to emerging technologies, Embraer’s decision to anchor itself in India signals confidence in the market’s long-term growth trajectory. The move also reinforces a stronger Brazil–India partnership built on shared goals of technological advancement, economic collaboration, and sustainable aviation development.
At its core, Embraer’s expansion into India is a clear bet on the future—one that combines the company’s global expertise with India’s growing aviation ambitions to shape the next era of aerospace innovation and connectivity.
