It's official: On Tuesday, August 13, the weather in the Netherlands was not as warm as this year since weather measurements began. At around 4:40 p.m., a minimum temperature of 34.9 degrees was measured at Nieuw Beerta in Groningen. This broke the previous record of 34.5 degrees, which was measured in 2020 in Volkel.
This was also the highest temperature of 2024 so far. However, no daytime temperature record has been broken in De Bilt. There the temperature has not exceeded 30.7 degrees. The highest temperature ever measured in De Bilt on this date is 32.1 degrees, a record since 1997 when it was very sunny and warm.
And now it's getting cold again. In Nieuw Beerta it was exactly 34.6 degrees around 5.20 pm. Vlieland is currently the coldest in the Netherlands with 21.2 degrees.
