After an unsuccessful morning, King Willem-Alexander, Queen Máxima and Princess Amalia have seen the Netherlands win no less than twice. The trio are first in the stands at the water polo game where the Netherlands beat China 15-11. In the evening they are with the women's hockey team who beat Germany 2-1 after falling behind. Naturally, such victories include ecstatic photos of the royal family.

The fact that the Netherlands has not won a medal yet does not mean there are no successes. On Monday, two teams will win under the watchful eye of the royal couple and Princess Amalia. On Monday afternoon, King Willem-Alexander expressed his confidence in the Dutch delegation. “But it is not about the harvest, these medals will definitely come,” the king told the Algemeen Dagblad newspaper. The Dutch team, the king admits, “has already had incredible bad luck.”

Just like the Dutch hockey players on Saturday and the mountain bikers on Sunday, the mood was already good among the royals on Monday morning. They applauded loudly when the Netherlands took the lead. They watched in sadness as the volleyball players lost to Turkey. The royals will be at the Olympics until July 30.
