An Air Canada flight from Casablanca to Montreal was cancelled Friday morning after a dispute between the cabin captain and passengers. The fight started when some passengers asked for blankets to keep warm.

According to passenger Jalal Balain, the controller was extremely rude and shouted at the passengers. The controller ordered the plane back to the gate and the four passengers who asked for blankets to disembark. In the end, six passengers were removed. Other passengers stood up for them and told authorities that the situation was different from what the controller had claimed.

After a four-hour delay, the flight was cancelled. Passengers were accommodated in hotels in Casablanca, but without their luggage. They were still able to fly to Montreal the next day, but the experience had a negative impact on some passengers.

Air Canada confirmed the flight was cancelled due to “an exceptional incident that does not reflect our values of hospitality.” The company apologized and promised to investigate the incident. Passengers will receive $1,000 in compensation and a $500 discount on their next flight.
