After her successful performances in Brabant, actress Margot Roos will tour the rest of the Netherlands this autumn with “The Brabant Nights Are Long”. In this solo performance she talks with humor and love about the national character of Brabant and her childhood in a middle-class family. “My father taught me how to celebrate life.” She will be at the Cpunt Theater in Hoofddorp on Friday, October 4.
“In ‘Long Brabant Nights’ I move between what really happened and what is completely made up. The stories are funny and brilliant, but also sometimes painful,” says Margot Roos, who is known to many from the comedy series Toren C. “I talk about family quarrels that get completely out of hand, carnival defloration, sausage rolls and other crown jewels of Brabant. And it is certainly recognizable to people from the rest of the Netherlands as well. ‘Long Brabant Nights’ is a colorful evening all by myself. Together with the audience.”

In recent seasons, the actress has performed this performance in her hometown of Eindhoven and in other theaters in Brabant. This left me wanting more. “I am very happy that I will soon be able to tour all over the Netherlands. Also to talk about the differences between Brabant and the Randstad, where I lived for a long time. I certainly feel at home in Amsterdam, but the south still has a special place in my heart.
Dying well is an art.
The leading role in “Long Brabant Nights” is reserved for “our father”, Roos’ father who passed away in 2017. Although he was not an ideal father, she learned a lot from him in the final stage. “He taught me how to celebrate life until the end. And that dying well is also an art. “Brabant Nights” has serious moments, but above all I want the audience to go home with a good feeling.
