The Steam Summer Sale is currently running and there are some great deals there again. Including some tips for Pokemon fans. MeinMMO editor Nicholas Hernes can recommend one very special one as he has spent countless hours there.
What is the game about? Digimon Cyber Detective Story It's a classic JRPG set in the Digimon universe. Depending on the game, you'll play as a detective or a hacker who has to figure out why Digimon are popping up everywhere.
The game's focus is primarily on catching and raising Digimon and this is exactly the point that captivated me the most.

But this doesn't always happen based on level. Many Digimon don't just have one possible evolution, there are multiple evolutions that depend on the Digimon's stats. If you want to evolve your Digimon into a specific Digimon, it needs the right values.
It was this aspect in particular that kept me hooked for hours. As a character, I always wanted to have the strongest (or just the coolest) monster for my troops. To achieve that, you had to breed, reverse engineer, and properly train a Digimon. It was a really relaxing experience with music or podcasts.
The gameplay also contributes to this, as it is a very broken JRPG system. There are rounds and in each round you attack with three Digimon. And to keep the grinding process from becoming too tedious, there is a button to speed everything up. This means that it was often a nice way to relax in the evening by leveling up and breeding a few Digimon.
Perfect for anime fans.
Anyone who is a fan of the classic anime will feel comfortable with the story and characters. None of this makes the game particularly unique, but it was a perfect comforting snack. The music is also great and fits the character's vibe.
Admittedly, the dungeons are very boring, but I never found this to be a problem because the dungeons were usually very short and with the right Digimon you could avoid random encounters.
The game is perfect for people who don’t hate turn-based battles and for players who love building their team in such games. It’s the perfect game if you want to relax with a podcast or video.
How much does the game cost? You can get the game on Steam for €8 until July 11. The bundle includes two cyber detective games, which should keep you busy for around 100 hours with just the main story. If you engage more deeply with the games, you can easily do twice that.
