    Experts warn

You're making a huge mistake if you charge your phone with a case on it.

    Yesterday July 4, 2024 | 22:59

When charging your cell phone battery, various errors can occur, many of which are unknown.

Even the most expensive and latest smartphones are worthless if the cell phone battery dies or doesn't charge properly. Sometimes it's not the device's fault, but yours. If your phone has a case, charging can go wrong. Even smartphone manufacturer Apple warns about this.

Cell Phone Battery: Why You Should Remove the Case Beforehand

If you charge your smartphone while it is in its case, this can, in the worst case, cause the battery to overheat. The experience of the editorial team shows that charging with a wireless station can, for example, cause the device to overheat significantly (affected model: Samsung Galaxy S10e).

Subsequent damage to the cell phone battery cannot be ruled out. This can delay the charging process and reduce the battery life in the long run. Apple, among others, is aware of this and therefore specifically advises iPhone users against doing so.

Here's what Apple recommends instead: “Charging your device in certain situations can generate excess heat, which can affect battery capacity. If you notice your device getting warm while charging, remove it from its case first.

Another problem: the charging process does not take place at all.

What's particularly annoying: If you don't notice that the plug no longer fits properly into the charging socket, you can stop the charging process without even noticing it. Because there is no connection, no current flows. If things go very badly, your cell phone is connected to the charger all night, and the next morning it is empty or even dead, as the experience of the editorial team shows.

The case doesn't have to be of poor quality. However, if it is thick and has a proper groove, it can be difficult to see with the naked eye whether the plug is inserted correctly or not. Sometimes it looks like the connector is fully inserted, but in reality the edge of the connector is only touching the edge of the case.
