In addition to winning the cup and the spring title, Feyenoord U21 also won the overall championship. In sunny Farkenord, outgoing coach Melvin Boyle's side, who will leave for FC Dordrecht next season, were too strong 2-0 for their peers from FC Twente/Heracles Academy and captain Siem Falk was allowed to receive the ball thereafter.
In a crowded Farkennoord, the two teams started at 2:00pm to decide which team could call themselves Dutch champion in the under-21 category. The Rotterdam team started the match strongly and opened the score after 13 minutes of play with a beautiful shot from the second line of Milan Hockey. The FC Twente/Heracles academy looked dangerous several times, but goalkeeper Manu Berger was not surprised. Striker Nesto Groen scored the second goal in the 25th minute, but he shot into the side netting, keeping the score 1-0 for Feyenoord at the midpoint of the match.
Feyenoord started the second half more conservatively. In the 64th minute of the match, midfielder Joep van der Sluis headed towards the Twente goalkeeper, but collided with the goalkeeper's body. And from Feyenoord's subsequent corner kick, it was Fabiano Rost who gave Rotterdam a 2-0 lead from close range by getting to the ball a little quicker than the FC Twente/Heracles Academy defenders.
In the final phase of the match, midfielder Mike Klein was subbed off and left the field to loud applause after playing for years in Feyenoord's academy.
