Youth Development Head Faber leaves Eindhoven to venture to Australia – Voetbal International

Youth Development Head Faber leaves Eindhoven to venture to Australia – Voetbal International

Brian Rodriguez, May 27, 2024

Ernst Faber will move from PSV Eindhoven to Australian club Adelaide United next summer. The former PSV Eindhoven defender will be head of youth coaching at PSV Eindhoven until the end of June and will then work as Adelaide's director of football affairs.

Eindhoven announced the expected departure of Faber (52 years old) on Monday morning through official channels. The former PSV Eindhoven, NEC and FC Groningen coach was appointed head of youth coaching at the PSV Academy in 2018. In between, Faber was also interim coach with the main force for a number of months. The only international in the past was an assistant coach under Philippe Cocu and Dick Advocaat.

Faber is already looking forward to his new adventure in Australia. “This is a great opportunity to work overseas. The club culture and working methods at Adelaide United FC are similar to those at PSV. They can still make a number of strides in the sport. I believe I can play an important role in this, especially now that both clubs have recently agreed On partnership. I'm doing this from a new position for me.

“It's a role I've been aspiring to and I'm very much looking forward to developing myself in. I'm grateful to Eindhoven for giving me this opportunity. In recent years, I've been able to mentor and develop myself extensively, and this seems like a great next step for me,” says Faber.

Director of Football Ernest Stewart is grateful to Faber for his work. “Ernest has many qualities, both on and off the field. He has made an important contribution to the level our program is at now. The academy is an institute where people with qualities and ambitions can fly to other places where development is key. Ernest was given the opportunity to spread his wings in A place that appeals to him and a role he aspires to. “We don't want to deprive him of that opportunity,” Stewart said.
