The Diavolezza lift in Switzerland stopped near St. Moritz near Pontresina on Wednesday. There were about 20 people stuck in the gondola just before the valley station. The reason for this situation was a technical glitch.

Disturbances in the Diavolezza gondola lift

At around 2:30 pm on Wednesday, the Diavolezza elevator in Pontresina stopped working. There were about 20 people stuck in the elevator. The whole situation lasted about an hour. It appears from the latest media reports that there is a problem at the mountain station. A technician came out and it took a while before everything was normal again.

    Response from Corvatsch AG

The ski lift operator then reported that there had been a technical error in the operating system. The gondola lift stopped for about an hour. The problem was resolved and all guests and employees were transferred to Al Wadi station. “At no time was there any risk to the safety of our guests and staff.”

    Engadine St. Moritz ski area

You will find several ski areas around the famous city of St. Moritz that are not connected to each other. There is no need to worry about the certainty of snow in Corviglia between St. Moritz and Silerina, in Corvac between Sils and Silvaplana or in Diavolezza near Pontresina. With slopes reaching over 3,000 metres, this area is pretty much guaranteed snow. The entire Engadine St. Moritz region consists of approximately 350 kilometers of slopes, 88 pistes and 9 ski destinations. Corviglia, Corvatsch/Furtschellas and Diavolezza/Lagalb are the three largest ski areas in the region.
