Switzerland is participating in the European Championship for the sixth time. The country of Noah Okafor and Xherdan Shaqiri has few true star players and therefore could be considered a potential overseas player. Coach Murat Yakin's team finished the qualifiers five points ahead of Romania and appears to be heading towards a difficult tournament. Can the Swiss perform a trick?

By finishing second in a group with countries such as Romania, Belarus and Israel, Switzerland narrowly qualified for the European Championships in Germany. Yakin's team opens the tournament on Saturday, June 15, with an away match against Hungary and awaits a tough match against Scotland on Wednesday, June 19, at 9pm. Switzerland will conclude the group stage on Sunday, June 23, at 9 pm, with an important match against the host country, Germany.

Possible selection for Switzerland in Euro 2024

It is not yet known who will include Yakin in the Switzerland squad this summer. However, based on the Swiss' previous matches, a number of things appear to be certain. It is possible that Nico Elvedi, Granit Xhaka and Xherdan Shaqiri, among others, can already prepare for the final tournament.

The expected lineup for the 2024 European Championship in Switzerland

Yakin has not fully determined the formation and setup he will use to get the most out of his group of players. He used a three-man defense against Ireland in March (0-1 win), but has previously played with a four-man defence. Based on recent international matches, it seems likely that Switzerland will play with a defense made up of three players and two full-backs.

Switzerland setting: Yann Sommer; Ricardo Rodriguez, Manuel Akanji, Fabien Char; Dan Ndoye, Granit Xhaka, Remo Freuler, Denis Zakaria, Sylvain Widmer; Noah Okafor, Ruben Vargas.
