There has been an attack on customs officials in Pakistan for the second time in a few days. Unidentified assailants opened fire on employees who were conducting an inspection on a highway in the north of the country near the border with Afghanistan. Two people were killed and two others were injured.

Last Thursday, there was also an attack on customs in the same area, Dera Ismail Khan. The employees were then shot at in their cars, killing five people. In both cases, the attackers fled and no one was arrested. No group has claimed responsibility for the attacks.

The security situation in the border region between Pakistan and Afghanistan has deteriorated in recent years. In the past, the Pakistani branch of the Taliban, TTP, has claimed responsibility for the attacks. This group has ties to the Taliban in Afghanistan, who are fundamentalist Muslims who form the government there.

Tensions increased between the two countries due to the attacks. Pakistan says that Taliban fighters are launching attacks on Pakistan from Afghan territory and has called on Afghanistan to stop these attacks. The Taliban in Afghanistan contradict this and say that Pakistan has a security problem in its country.
