The flight took place on April 10, between Denver and Toronto, but the events that occurred in the cockpit did not come to light until Thursday after a video emerged. “We were shocked by what we saw on the screen. It seemed to be an unauthorized person High cruising “Sitting in the pilot's seat with autopilot on,” United said in a statement.

The video, which circulated on Instagram for some time – but was later deleted – shows two people sitting one after the other in a pilot's seat, according to the American CBS News channel.

The airline has not revealed the identity of the passengers in the cockpit, but since it was a charter flight for the Colorado Rockies baseball team, it is believed they were team members.

The airline said: “This is a clear violation of our rules. We have reported the incident to the Federal Aviation Administration and the pilots have been grounded while the investigation continues.”

This incident is very painful for United because the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) penalized the company a few weeks ago for previous safety rule violations. Then the Chicago airline promised improvement.
