No cholera was found on the cruise ship anchored off the coast of the island of Mauritius in East Africa. There were 2,184 people on board the Norwegian Dawn, including fifteen Dutch people.

The Mauritanian Ministry of Health confirmed BBC Fifteen passengers were infected with stomach flu, not cholera. A Dutch family on board the ship also reported this to several media outlets.

The patients were isolated due to complaints such as vomiting and diarrhea, but are now better. Therefore, the Norwegian Dawn ship was given permission to dock in the capital, Port Louis.

The authorities had initially closed the ship to “prevent health risks.” When passengers disembark, they will be screened. According to a spokesperson for Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings, they will depart the ship on Tuesday.

The passengers were not affected by the conditions

The majority of those on board will begin their journey home on Sunday. The Port Authority reported that 2,279 new passengers will also board Port Louis.

Passengers were not greatly affected by the alleged cholera outbreak. More cleaning has taken place, but everyone can still use the facilities on board.

The Norwegian Dawn departed South Africa on 13 February on a voyage via Madagascar to Reunion and Mauritius. The cruise ship will then return to South Africa with new passengers.
