Dutch American Jules van Dongen will take on another dual national darts player in the World Cup of Darts on Saturday afternoon. His opponent is Darren Penhall. He plays for Australia, but he’s from England. What’s up with that?

Van Dongen left for America for love. This is where he first took up darts seriously. And it turns out he’s pretty good at it. He will make his debut in the PDC World Championship on Saturday. He actually played in the WDF World Cup last year.
Who is Darren Penhall?
Darren Penhall is a 51-year-old Englishman who plays for Australia for PDC. He was born in St Austell, England, but now lives on Cotchimudlo Island, near Brisbane.
Australia
Penhal has lived in Australia since 2010. His sister left in 1989 and he visits her often. However he had to return to England. For a moment he thought about 2016. Taking care of his sick mother. But that turned out to take longer than expected. Other family members also fell ill, and the Covid-19 pandemic meant that Penhall was also in England in 2020.
Excavator
He decided to play Q-School, where he won a PDC Tour card. He then played for England, but after an unsuccessful two-year spell on the PDC Tour, he left for Australia. Here the excavator driver decided to participate in a regional darts tour in Australia. He won 11 of the 21 DPA titles and qualified convincingly for his first World Darts Championship.
