According to a study by language learning platform Preply, there is an average salary of 107,600 francs in Swiss job offers for positions in the Artificial Intelligence category. This is much higher than the Swiss average of 76,500 francs.
Salaries of nearly millions at OpenAI
However, when negotiating salary, there may be a good opportunity to ask for more. Because Swiss AI salaries are small compared to what employees at leading AI company OpenAI earn.
According to Bloomberg, regular employees here – not managers – receive a basic salary ranging between $200,000 and $370,000. With bonuses, stock packages, etc., total compensation often reaches around $800,000.
This also partly explains why almost the entire workforce expressed solidarity with CEO Sam Altman, who was briefly fired. Among other things, the marketing of the nominally non-profit OpenAI project went too far for the board. But derailment under Altman may also have meant painful financial losses for permanent employees.
