What happened so far: Retail company Fust, part of the Coop family, wants to reposition itself in Switzerland. Exactly, there is talk of “realignment.” This has serious consequences for the workforce. Nearly 160 sales outlets in Switzerland and 2,000 employees are now being tested. Specifically, at least 90 jobs will be eliminated. Parent company Coop will pay special attention to size: Fust’s branch network is approximately 85,000 square metres. From Coop’s point of view, it’s potentially a dead zone that’s consuming a lot of money. If you lose space, there won’t be a need for as many employees.
Back to the point: Foust has now informed his employees of the “restructuring”. Terminations may not be announced. However, a sentence from company spokesman Rafael Torre shows just how serious the situation is:
“If an employee leaves, their position will not be filled.” We ask ourselves: Does this look like a reorganization?
