Perhaps some still remember the “bones” from the 2000s: some models of the early development of mobile phones had impressive battery life. Especially if they are used mainly for calls and texts, a single charge may last for several days. Today it seems different.

low battery? Blue News sums it up for you

    • The limited operating time of lithium-ion batteries remains an issue in today’s smartphones.
    • Hidden functions and applications that are not generally used can be a real power hog.
    • We have 8 tips for you on how to save battery capacity.

Although today’s smartphones and tablets now have plenty of battery power, our current digital companions also have to do a lot more than just glow dark green, send a couple of messages a day and talk to Snake. It is known that modern smartphone screens consume a lot of energy, but there are other energy consumers. We’ve put together some tips here on how to optimize uptime per battery charge and stay connected longer while on the go.

Our 8 tips to improve battery life:

    • Turn on dark mode. This can have a significant impact on battery life. You can usually find this option in Settings under “Display” or “Display & Brightness.”
    • Optimize your display settings. Reduce screen brightness, shorten the time it takes to sleep, and disable the always-on wallpaper.
    • Avoid frequent restarts. As long as there are no major issues, you do not need to keep restarting your smartphone. This way you can save battery capacity.
    • Turn off vibration and sound. There is power in quiet, and this also applies to ringtones, vibrating alarms, and button feedback.
    • Disable unnecessary connections. Disconnect all connections you don’t need now. For example, a mobile data connection wherever you have WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS or hotspot.
    • Delete unused accounts. You’ll likely find an app or two that you no longer actively use and whose data syncing in the background is constantly consuming power.
    • Disable push notifications. There’s Power in Silence, Part 2. Think about where push notifications make sense and where they don’t, and enjoy the silence of your apps.
    • Uninstall power-hungry applications. Check your battery settings to see which of your apps are using the most power and there may be some that you no longer need.

The battery is and remains (for now) the Achilles’ heel of a smartphone. In addition to our tips for extended charging cycles, modern chargers, fast charging cables and power banks also ensure a convenient charging routine without supply bottlenecks.

Tip: Choose our mobile and internet subscription and use your new battery life to visit the Swisscom online store.
