Omroep Flevoland – News – Visitors and a Libyan stuck on a roller coaster for over an hour

Omroep Flevoland – News – Visitors and a Libyan stuck on a roller coaster for over an hour

Brian Rodriguez, August 19, 2023

A number of visitors to Walibi Holland in Biddinghuizen got stuck for some time on Wednesday night on a flawed roller coaster. The Looopings website reported that it took seventy minutes before everyone was released.

The problem arose when a cart from the Speed of Sound roller coaster was pulled up backwards. Normally, the roller coaster is then released, but in this case that didn’t happen. “An emergency rescue procedure has been initiated,” a Walibi spokesperson told Looopings. “The train is going down very slowly.”

Admit defeat – retreat
Walibi points out that letting the train descend slowly will be more comfortable for passengers than going down the steep slope. Finally, the train stops halfway through the station, where all the gates can be opened one by one. It wasn’t until about 9:30 p.m. that all the passengers left the attraction.

Some visitors complained of pain in their backs and shoulders. They were taken care of by the first aid station next door. A Walibi spokesperson informs Looopings that this is normal practice. “Then we did a scan, because of course people have been sitting still for quite some time.”

The cause of the outage is currently under investigation. Walibi says the speed of sound will remain off until it becomes clear what is going on.
