Bosch eBike Systems has pulled the latest update to its smart system with the Kiox 300 e-bike via Android smartphones. Bosch announced this in response to an online inquiry from Heise about the latest issues that the update has raised on some systems. After installing the update published on Wednesday via the Flow app, the drive system can be locked, meaning e-bikes equipped with the Bosch Smart System and Kiox 300 can no longer be filled with electric support.

Updates affected via Android Flow app

According to Bosch, this only affected over-the-air (OTA) updates imported via Android version 1.9.3 of the Flow app. The cause was unspecified connection problems. According to heise’s online message, users who imported the system via iOS were not affected by the issue. So on Thursday it was decided not to offer the update via Android. For iOS, it is still available via the Flow app and can be imported.

Bosch eBike Systems has apologized to the affected users and promised to make the update available to them again as soon as possible, which, among other things, modifies the navigation function and gearshift recommendations. Bosch asks for more patience and wants to communicate when the update is available again for Android users.

Anyone who has already performed the update and their drive is no longer working are required to completely reinstall the Flow app and also renew the Bluetooth pairing. The article “E-bikes: Bosch intelligent system with navigation – and the problem” contains detailed instructions on how to proceed.
