If the FritzBox asks for additional confirmation, you have three options:

    • Entering a key combination on a connected phone
    • Press a button on your FritzBox
    • Enter the verification code using the authenticator app

The first two options work only in the home network, the authentication application also works with remote access. You must set up this method under System and FritzBox Users. Select the preset default user and scroll down to the “Verify Application (One Time Password)” section. Click New Setup.

FritzBox also requests additional confirmation of this action. So you have to be there to press the confirm button on the router or to confirm via a connected phone. You need an authenticator app, such as Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator, or Authy.

In the FritzBox interface, you can specify a name for the smartphone the authenticator is running on and then scan the QR code displayed on it. Click Next and type the generated code. If FritzBox gets additional confirmation in the future, you can use one-time codes to apply the authentication.
