French President Emmanuel Macron has urged the French people not to panic about the fuel shortage in France caused by the strikes on oil refineries.

As a result, pumping stations completely dried up in some areas of the country, especially around Paris and northern France. Concerns about fuel shortages have caused long queues of motorists to appear at gas stations.

Strikes at French refineries began last month. Macron said the government was in the process of launching a strategic fuel supply to supply gas stations. He also said from the European summit in Prague that he hoped to reach an agreement soon between trade unions and employers to end the strikes.

French Transport Minister Clement Bonn reported on Friday that tankers will be allowed to deliver fuel to gas stations on Sundays. These trucks are usually not allowed to drive on Sundays.

French Energy Minister Agnes Pannier-Runacher has indicated that more than 80 per cent of French pumping stations do not have problems. She called on residents to trust government measures, including the release of strategic stocks.
