Gina Lokenkemper and Lamont Marcel Jacobs won the European title in the 100 metres. The women’s final in particular had an exciting conclusion, as three women crossed the finish line side by side.
Mujinga Kamponge of Switzerland was ahead, but was overtaken in the final meters by 25-year-old Lokenkemper, who fell after crossing the line. Before the eyes of the German fans, she burst into tears when it became clear that she had won the Queen’s number in a time of 10.99.
The bronze went to Britain’s Daryl Netta, who took the bronze with a time of 0.01 from the winner.
Asher Smith withdrew
In the previous European Championships (2018), Lückenkemper won the silver, with a score of 0.14 from Dina Asher-Smith. The Brits were also the frontrunners, but she pulled out after a few meters with a hamstring injury.

27-year-old Jacobs rushed it to 9.95, leaving defending champion Zharnel Hughes of Great Britain behind. 21-year-old Jeremiah Azo took bronze with a personal best score of 10.13 and was very happy with it.
Jacobs surprisingly became the Olympic champion in Tokyo last year, but he rarely played due to injuries. At the World Cup last month in Eugene, he pulled out after the series with a thigh injury. He became the indoor world champion in the 60 meters early this year.
In Munich, he showed his famous turbo again and was very fast for everyone.
