Küng finds himself seventh in the standings after six days of the Tour of Switzerland, ahead of climbers such as Domenico Pozzovivo, Daniel Felipe Martínez and Remco Evenepoel. And then, the thirty kilometer time trial still had to come on the last day. Küng is behind leader Jacob Vogelsang by 49 seconds.
Küng also showed what he has to offer at Moosalp on Friday. The Swiss left only a kilometer and a half from the finish and lost 37 seconds in the favourites. “No one expected Stephen to stay there,” says acclaimed sports director Philip Maduette of Groupama-FDJ. “He is in exceptional condition and he has shown once again how amazing his talent is.”

Kung also made himself heard after the ride. “I felt good in the early stages and so I said to myself I will try to follow it in the mountains. I may not have the right preparation to go to a general classification, but it is going well this year,” says the rider, who was also impressed by the climb stage in the final stage of Paris. -Nice. “I’ve done it all, I can’t blame myself.” A new test awaits him on Saturday, before he reaches his time love.
