Munich, Dusseldorf Scopes like the combustion engine – and purely electric. This is the promise of the American startup Lucid. Chief Engineer Eric Bach was excited about the first model, Lucid Air, and praised the technical innovations. It is concerned with self-made reduction device or small light electric motors. “Our ultimate development goal is to be able to drive as far as possible with as little energy as possible,” explains Bach, who traveled to Germany from Silicon Valley to open the showroom in Munich.
With a range of up to 800 km, the Lucid Air Dream Edition range aims to challenge German competitors such as the Mercedes EQS or the new BMW 7 Series. Although the Lucid model is designed for maximum efficiency, it is also very heavy: the electric sedan weighs 2,400 kilograms – nearly 400 kilograms more than the Mercedes S-Class with a combustion engine.
