iPhone 14 technology drama: Apple suppliers cheated

iPhone 14 technology drama: Apple suppliers cheated

Theodore Meeks, May 24, 2022

Apple has been trying to reduce its reliance on Samsung for displays for years, but now it’s facing a major setback. The Chinese company BEO is said to have adapted the technology without consulting Apple, and cooperation is pending.

If you want to work with Apple, you don’t have to secretly mess around

Last month, BEO proudly announced that it would take over the production of 30 million OLED screens for the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro Max for Apple devices. As reported by Korean magazine The Elec, the US group has yet to offer its final blessing on the order. The cause could certainly cause ongoing problems: A BEO is said to have been “tuned” adjusting the circuit width of the iPhone 13 panels earlier this year, according to “people familiar with the matter.” “This was done without Apple’s approval, possibly to increase revenue,” The Elec quoted its sources as saying.

Accordingly, BEO has sent its senior managers and other key employees to Apple’s headquarters to answer questions regarding unauthorized modification of the “circuit display transistors.” As per the current state of knowledge, it may already be too late for this action, as Apple is currently simply considering not placing any orders for the iPhone 14 series OLED screens after the incident. While visiting Cupertino, the BEO attempted a similar commitment, but did not receive a “clear answer” from Apple.

But again Samsung and LG

And so it looks like Apple is doomed to order 30 million OLEDs from its biggest partners, Samsung and LG, if the BOEs are phased out. Samsung Display is currently expected to produce the 6.1-inch and 6.7-inch screens for iPhone 14 Pro models, while LG Display is said to produce additional 6.7-inch panels for the iPhone Deliver 14 Pro Max. . It will be interesting to see how Apple solves this supply chain dilemma.
