The network cannot be fast enough. But while things at home with a landline connection are still manageable, you do experience the vagaries of mobile coverage when you’re outside.

But now there is an easy way to find out which network is the fastest. The Ookla speed test app contains a public map available in Android and iOS versions that shows the cell phone coverage of various service providers.

How fast is the mobile network wherever you are? You can, of course, do a benchmark test, but the question of how the network covers the area is also interesting. This is useful, for example, when you are on the move and do not have 5G reception. A look at the map in the Speedtest app will answer that question.

In the overview, you can see where only 5G, LTE or 2G / 3G are available, broken down by provider. The dead spots in mobile phones are also listed. Everything is practical if you are looking for faster mobile connections or if you are thinking of changing mobile network providers. Just check the places where you often use your cell phone, such as at home or the office.

The data shown comes from users of the app who activate location sharing. Res is divided into individual streets. In some cases, you can even see if you have better mobile phone reception than your neighbors across the street.
