    A Texas jury acquitted a former Boeing pilot, Wednesday, in a fraud case filed after the fatal crash of the Boeing 737 Max that killed hundreds of people.

    The chief pilot, Mark Forkner, who had been unemployed at Boeing for years, was the only person charged with criminal charges for the plane’s problems.

    While developing the aircraft at Boeing, Forkner was an important contact person for the US aviation authority, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). Among other things, he had to explain how pilots should learn to fly the 737 Max. Forkner was charged with withholding important information. He previously said he pleads not guilty to the six charges against him, each of which could lead to 20 years in prison.

    Forkner’s attorney, David Gerger, praised the “independent, intelligent and fair jury” in a statement. He portrayed his defense of the former pilot as a “scapegoat”.

    Early last month, a judge ruled that Forkner could only face four of the six charges against him.
