Microsoft is introducing a new payment model for its low-code Power Apps platform. With it, customers only have to pay for the apps that users actually use. So far, Power Apps can only be billed on a per-app or per-user basis, the latter covering an unlimited number of programs.

At the time of writing, the new model costs €8.43 per user and app per month, while the permanently assigned app costs €4.20 per user per month. The main advantage of the first variant is its flexibility – even if employees in their organization are allowed to use the Power App, Microsoft only calculates costs when they actually use it.

Administrators can monitor usage and billing in the Azure portal. Budgets can also be set here, eg to be able to separate costs by department. Administrators can change the payment model in the Power Apps admin center or Power Platform. Instructions for this can be found in the advertisement from Microsoft.
