A group of French fishermen prevented a Dutch fishing vessel from docking in the port of Boulogne-sur-Mer in the north of the country. Dutch trucks to which the fish will be transported have also been stopped.

Fishermen are doing so out of their dissatisfaction with Brexit rules and Dutch fishing methods, according to Agence France-Presse Bleu news agency.

It has been precarious for some time in Boulogne-sur-Mer, which is severely affected by the ongoing dispute between Europe and the United Kingdom over fishing rights. Since Brexit, skippers need a British license to fish in British waters.

    plunder the sea

Such licenses are scarce, forcing many fishermen to fish in the increasingly crowded French part of the channel. Dutch incisors are also active there. The French fishermen who stop the Dutch accuse them of plundering their part of the sea.

The movement of the French fishermen began around 6 pm. Various French media reported that other Dutch ships that had arrived at the port moved to other ports.

The ships have been stopped elsewhere before, after the captain had already threatened to do so in November. For example, at the end of November, French fishermen stopped a British container ship in the port of Saint Malo. This action also had to do with anger over the limited number of hunting licenses.
