The Brazilian government donates an ambulance to Suriname

The Brazilian government donated an ambulance to Suriname as a healthcare contribution. This vehicle was purchased through the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) and the World Food Program. The car has been in our country since August 2020, but it still needs to be made available to Suriname standards.

The new Brazilian ambassador to our country, Raphael Aziredo, made this initiative on behalf of his government to Minister of Health Ammar Ramadan. The minister received the keys on this occasion. The vehicle was then delivered to Academic Paramaribo Hospital (AZP), which will deploy an ambulance inland in partnership with the medical mission. The delivery took place on Wednesday 12 May 2021 on the territory of AZP.

Hermann Genti, Director of the Medical Mission Foundation Suriname, indicates that this is a high-tech ambulance that will be monitored by AZP. In addition to this donation, the medical mission has several ambulances available, which can be deployed from multiple locations such as Boquegrone, Braunswig and the Paramaribo Coordination Center.

The director expressed his hope that in the future his organization would have access to an ambulance boat, as the mission’s medical services would be further improved.
